Australian Nick Kyrgios has been fined by the ATP due to his seeming lack of effort during his straight sets loss to world No.110 Mischa Zverev at the Shanghai Masters.

Kyrgios appeared to tank during the 6-3, 6-1, even dinking a soft serve over the net during the first set before beginning to walk off the court while the ball was returned.

The 21-year-old was booed at times and was even warned by the umpire for his performance.

He has avoided suspension, however, he has received a total of $US16,500 worth of fines from the ATP.

Kyrgios received the maximum $US10,000 fine for “lack of best efforts”, plus $US5,000 for abusing a spectator and another $US1,500 for unsportsmanlike conduct.
