Serena Williams has broken the record for most US Open after defeating fellow American Kristie Ahn 7-5, 6-3 to earn her 102nd US Open singles victory.

“I was really pleased with how I just fought for every point,” Williams told ESPN after the match.

“I've been playing a ton of tight matches,

“I felt like, all right, I just wanted to be Serena focused from the first point to the last point no matter what happens.” She said post match

Williams is now on track for her seventh US Open title.

Ahn's dicipline and flat ball-striking repeatedly put her in place to take the game on early.

“She really strikes the ball really hard, mixes it up a lot

"She plays a lot of the different shots. You don't really know what to expect.” Williams said post-game

Williams is aiming to win her 24th title and equal Margaret Court's grand slam record.

Williams lost in 2018 and 2019 in the US Open final and is aiming to redeem herself with her first US Open title since 2014.
