The All Black have suffered a blow just a few weeks out from the opening Bledisloe Cup Test, with star Jordie Barrett ruled out for the remainder of the year due to a shoulder injury.

With Barrett set to undergo surgery, Crusaders' David Havili has been called into the squad for the Bledisloe Cup and Rugby Championship.

Barrett, 20, made his All Blacks debut earlier this year after a stellar season with the Hurricanes.

He suffered the shoulder injury which will now keep him out until 2018 in the final stages of the Hurricanes' Super Rugby semi-final loss to the Lions last month.
