Western Suburbs Magpies NSW Cup rugby league team played the Randwick Galloping Greens rugby union side in a highly entertaining and historic game of hybrid rugby at Pirtek Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The game was exceptionally quick, with Wests winning 47-19 before a crowd of about 1000 interested onlookers that included former Kangaroos skipper Max Krilich, Wests great Tommy Raudonikis and Wallaby legend Simon Poidevin.

Both sides had an amazing grasp of the hybrid rules, the manufactured match having enormous continuity and quality.

And Hybrid Rugby chairman Phil Franks has even grander plans — a game between the Kangaroos and Wallabies on Australia Day.
