Former Wallaby James O'Connor has been charged with possession of cocaine by French Police following his arrest on the weekend, however, he looks set to escape with a fine.

However, former All Black Ali Williams, who was arrested with O'Connor, faces a more serious charge of buying cocaine and will face court at a later date.

The pair were allegedly found in possession of 2.4 grams of cocaine outside a nightclub near the Champs Elysees on the weekend.

The club is yet to announce what impact the charge will have on O'Connor's contract.
