Australia's David Pocock has reportedly been offered a contract by an English club that would make him the highest paid rugby player in the world.

London's Telegraph has reported that English side, Wasps, have made the Brumbies' flanker an audacious bid to join the club after his current Super Rugby contract expires at the end of this season.

Wasps have reportedly indicated that they are willing to offer Pocock a deal in excess of the £1.4 million ($2.8 million) that the world's current highest paid player, Dan Carter, earns at racing 92.

The 27-year-old is said to be open to a move to England after enjoying his time in the UK during last year's World Cup.
