A day after Wallaby tight-head prop Greg Holmes announced that the 2016 Super Rugby season would be his last at the Reds, Queensland have gone a long way to finding a replacement by re-signing Taniela Tupou.

The 19-year-old prop, dubbed the Tongan Thor, who weighs in at 135kg, today signed a new two-year contract extension which will see him remain at the Reds until the end of 2018.

The teenage prodigy said he was excited by the opportunity to continue his development at the Reds.

“I'm very happy to be at the Reds until 2018. I just love this place,” Tupou said.
