South Africa has advanced to the semi finals with a thrilling 23-19 win over Wales on Saturday.

Wales looked set to beat the Springboks for the first time in 109 years, leading 19-18 with just five minutes remaining, before Duane Vermeulen broke away from a scrum at the Welsh 22-metre line, before throwing an ambitious pass behind his back to scrum-half du Preez, who bolted away from the opposition to score a try.

The outstanding play saw South Africa advance to the semis to face either New Zealand or France.

It is a brilliant turn around from South Africa, who many wrote off after the opening game of the tournament after a shock loss to Japan in the first match of the group stage.
