Jordan Thompson has completed a memorable Davis Cup debut, leading Australia to a 4-1 thumping of under-manned Czech Republic at Kooyong.

Thompson overcame Jan Satral 7-6 (7-5) 6-2 after Jiri Vesely downed injured Sam Groth 3-6 7-5 6-3.

Thompson was one of the prime architects of Australia's triumph, claiming an important opening rubber on Friday over Vesely.

With Nick Kyrgios and Groth and John Peers following suit in singles and doubles, Australia held an unassailable 3-0 lead by Saturday afternoon.
